Hi I'm Shahroze and I'll tell you
all about great ice hockey.
Ice hockey is played in a hockey rink. There are six players including
one goalie. Did you know you have to hit a hard rubber puck. You have
to hit the puck with a blade at the end that's curved. The players could
use their bodies to block. The goalie could use his feet but not in kicking
motion. Players can't use their hands to bat the puck into the net.
Moves
Forward passes are allowed in ice hockey than they are allowed in rugby.
This was an "offside game". 1930's hockey was an onside game.
That means forward passes weren't allowed and only inside passes were
allowed. When offside rules came hockey was a great and fun sport. The
golden age of stick-handling was when onside games came. Six players with
the goalie are sliced into three forwards and two defensemen. A center
and two wingers in the forward position. A left wing and a right wing.
They have to be in line to play together.
The Surroundings
The boards surrounding the ice help keep the puck inside. The referees,
linesmen and the outsides of the goal are "in play" and do not
cause a stopping the game when players get hurt. Play doesn't stop for
a few minutes. When the game stops it starts again with a face off. Two
players will come at the beginning of the game and the referee will throw
the puck into the game and the players will have to take control of the
puck. I think these facts are great do you?
